These days, pretty much everyone is on Twitter. But most of the time, all you get is the occasional funny link and a whole lot of “I’m eating lunch!” So instead of the same ol’ nonsense, spice up your Twitter feed with some of the hottest women around: Playboy Playmates. Sure, they’re probably just as boring as the rest of us, but at least you stand a good chance at seeing a TwitPic of their boobs! (You know, besides all the other pictures of them naked…)

Miss June 2009 Candice Cassidy

hat’s a very nice blog entry. Thank you for posting it.

So why was all this talk there about Kelly Carrington not being liked by other Playmates? Candice calls her one of her closest friends.

I somewhere get the feeling that Candice is one of those girls whose hairstyle would go a long way in deciding how good she looked. I did not like her cyber girl pictorials all that much but the recent pictures with a different hairstyle look more promising. An example comes to mind. I never liked Stephanie Heinrich much. However recently I saw a video of hers with a very different hairstyle and overall makeover as well and the immediate thought was that she had never looked better.

Playmate Blog: Meet Miss June 2009 Candice Cassidy

Hey there Playboy fans! Remember this face? Let me refresh your memory. In November 2006 I was the Cyber Club’s Cyber Girl of the Month, and you may have also seen me in one of our many Special Editions, or as one of Playboy.com’s Fresh Faces. But now I have a new title—Miss June 2009. I’ve been waiting for almost a year now to see what pictures Playboy picked from my Centerfold shoot. To finally see it all come together—the big issue release and my Playmate pictorial—is just really special, and I can’t wait for everyone else to see it too!

Ever since I was a senior in high school I knew I wanted to become a Playboy Playmate. The first magazine I ever bought was the June 2004 Playmate of the Year issue. Well, I have to admit I wasn’t alone when I made the purchase. I was embarrassed to go buy the magazine, so I had some boys in my class go buy it for me. Pretty funny, huh? After that, it took me about two years to get up the nerve to do nude photos. My mom and I discussed the possibility of me posing to make sure it was something I really wanted to do, which it most definitely was.

Article Image5000066295710

So about three years ago, I submitted my pictures to Playboy and they flew me out to L.A. two days later. I became a Cyber Girl of the Week first, and later, I was voted Cyber Girl of the Month. After that I posed for some of the Special Editions and Playboy online sites like Fresh Faces. About a year ago, I got a call from Playboy and I went out to the Mansion to shoot my Centerfold. Your photos have to be approved first, so they tell you not to get your hopes up until Hef gives the okay. The funny thing is, Playboy forgot to tell me he approved them! We were sitting at dinner one night at the Mansion, and Kayla Collins, Miss August 2008, said she heard I was going to be a Playmate, and I was like, “No, Hef hasn’t approved them yet.” Lucky for me, Holly was in the room and confirmed that the rumors were true. A year later, here I am as Playboy’s newest Centerfold!

When I first told my grandmother I was going to be a Playmate she was shocked because she’s a little conservative. I’m going over to her house today to show her the issue, so I can’t wait to see what she says. Hopefully she hasn’t already seen it from someone else. As you all probably know, the new issue hit newsstands Friday. I couldn’t wait to see the pictorial, so on Wednesday I stopped by a store in Portsmouth, Ohio (my hometown), and they somehow had the issue there a little early. I ended up buying five copies, but of course, a few hours later a whole box of magazines arrived at my house courtesy of Playboy. I guess I got a little antsy, but I just wanted to make sure I had a chance to swipe some copies before I headed to Vegas for my first appearance as a Playmate. As it turns out, the store in Portsmouth wasn’t the only place that had the issue on newsstands early. When I arrived at the airport in Columbus, Ohio the security guard immediately recognized me because the magazine was already out in the airport. Guess we know what he’s doing during his breaks!

So I arrived in Vegas—my first time ever visiting Sin City—and I couldn’t wait to start the weekend! Friday night I wined and dined with Miss October 2008, Kelly Carrington, and Miss May 2006, Alison Waite, both of whom live in Vegas. Since I live in Ohio and most of my Playmate friends live on the West Coast, it’s nice to travel for Playboy because it allows me to see all of them. I’ve known Alison for almost three years now, and I met Kelly at the Mansion more than a year ago, around the time I was shooting my Playmate pictorial. They’re two of my closest friends, so it was great to spend a weekend with them. Kelly even came with me to the Playboy Club on Sunday night when I hosted a party. I didn’t get to spend too much time outside of the Palms hotel while I was in Vegas. I spent both Friday and Saturday nights hosting the Playboy Comedy Show, which if you have to sit through something three times, you can’t pick a better option. It’s never the same and it’s so funny. I definitely want to head back to Vegas sometime though, and maybe now that I’m a Playmate I’ll have the opportunity to visit more—and maybe even stay in Hef’s super sweet Sky Villa.

This weekend I’ll be heading to Indianapolis for the Indy 500 party. I just got a text from Miss March 2009, Jennifer Pershing, who will be my roomie for the weekend. I know there’s a large group of Playmates going, which means there’s a whole lot of fun in store! Make sure to check back next week so you can see all the hot pics from my Indy 500 weekend…

xoxo,
Candice

Pix And Chicks From Hefner’s Playmate of the Year Dinner

Maloof to girlfriend (Kelly Carrington): ‘For now, you’re the one for me’

There was a friendly tit-for-tat going on in a Palms ballroom on Saturday night, where Hugh Hefner (with Crystal Harris, Karissa Shannon and Kristina Shannon) and more than 50 Playmates from the past 55 years crowned the new Playmate of the Year — Ida Ljungqvist.

While introducing the “legendary” Palms owner, George Maloof, host Brande Roderick said he’s dated almost as many Playmates as Hefner has.

“Thank you, Brande. That’s really funny,” Maloof quipped dryly.

But Maloof really has dated around the horn of the Playboy Mansion. So he played along and mentioned that several exes were among Playmates in the room.

Then he cracked the joke of the night in a shout out to his girlfriend in a front row.

“Hi Kelly (Carrington) — for now, you’re the one for me,” Maloof said.

Maloof said people often ask him if he could be the next Hefner but that there is only one Hefner. George: if you not you, then who?

Brande Roderick vs. Joan and Melissa Rivers

Roderick (Playmate of the Year in 2001) is one of the last remaining contestants on “Celebrity Apprentice.” One of the rivals she has beat is Joan Rivers’ daughter Melissa, who just got fired on the show.

Melissa left “Apprentice” by calling Roderick and poker star Annie Duke a “cabal” of “whore pit vipers,” a clever spew of venom. And Joan Rivers called Roderick a stupid blonde.

So while sharing the Playmate of the Year limelight on stage, Roderick boasted she made the final four of the reality show and raised $200,000 for charity.

“If that’s what a being a dumb blonde is, I’m proud to say I’m a dumb blonde,” Roderick said.

That was Roderick taking the high road.

The Playmate of The Year Won’t Be Posing Again

There in the ballroom, fully naked posters of Ljungqvist draped the walls. But the Playmates and everyone else were clothed. They ate crab cake and beef cake supplied by celebrity chef Kerry Simon.

Ljungqvist — the magazine’s first African-born Playmate of the Year — stammered, hooted and teared up at the podium in accepting her award. She was a ball of emotions.

Before the dinner, she walked a red carpet with other Playmates then shared with some of us in the media that she is completely done with posing naked, forever and ever. She was happy with how this Playboy “miracle” turned out. But nude exhibitionism isn’t her thing, she said.

Two years ago, she was working in a Beverly Hills boutique, Bebe, when 2007’s Playmate of the year, Sara Jean Underwood, discovered her and introduced Ljungqvist to Playboy.

She posed in the March 2008 magazine. Readers voted her Playmate of the Year. Hefner gave her the news after a Playmate dinner-and-movie night at the Mansion.

She’s working on a charity, Empowerment Works, which focuses on HIV-AIDS research, children’s care and other concerns around the world. She will be fundraising and sending nine orphans to religious universities, she said.

Her Playmate of the Year awards: $100,000, a car and a bottle of tequila.

Hefner kicks off birthday party in Las Vegas

Playboy magnate to turn 83 on Thursday

Hugh Hefner got the celebration under way today at the Palms casino and hotel in Las Vegas for his 83rd birthday, which is Thursday.

Sat, Apr 4, 2009 (7:44 p.m.)

Sun Coverage

Hugh Hefner kicked off a day-long birthday party today at the Palms.

The Playboy magnate will turn 83 years old on Thursday.

The festivities got underway today at 2:30 p.m. as the resilient playboy made his way to the Palms Place pool.

Flanked by girlfriends Crystal Harris, 22, and 19-year-old twin sisters Karissa and Kristina Shannon, Hefner was cheerful, dressed in a colorful playboy shirt, white pants, a black sport coat and his signature captain’s hat.

Press and camera crews for “The Girls Next Door” greeted the birthday boy’s entourage as the group settled into seats on the patio near the pool.

Moments later, the original “Girls Next Door,” Bridget Marquardt, Kendra Wilkinson, and Hef’s former No. 1 squeeze, Holly Madison, came by to say hello.

“I’ve good company. Young people keep me young,” Hefner said. “I get older but they stay the same.”

Marquardt, Wilkinson, and Madison lived with the Playboy icon in his iconic estate, the Playboy Mansion, for over five years before going their separate ways last year.

Now 35, 23, and 29, respectively, the trio has since been replaced by a younger trifecta of blondes.

Marquardt and Wilkinson admitted it was all pretty surreal.

“That used to be us!” Wilkinson remarked, motioning toward Hefner’s three new lady friends.

“You see it from the outside and it’s like, oh my God,” she laughed.

Marquardt agreed. “It’s such a unique situation,” she said.

Yet there was no animosity in the afternoon air as girlfriends past and present joined Hefner to pose for photographers.

Madison, who finished a month-long stint on “Dancing With the Stars” this week, said photographers are an essential part of any Playboy birthday celebration.

She had her fair share of party planning experience during her tenure as Hef’s No. 1. She said that three things are required for any Hef-related celebration: “Press, Jack and Coke and beautiful women.”

There was no shortage of any of those today at the Palms.

Hefner sipped glasses of Jack Daniels and Coke throughout the afternoon, as he fielded questions from a seemingly endless stream of media.

Meanwhile, a smattering of stunning ladies lingered and mingled nearby.

Former Playboy models Jennifer Pershing, Deanna Brooks, Tiffany Fallon, Hiromi Oshima, Kelly Carrington, Janine Habeck, Alison Waite, Ida Ljundqvist, Stacy Fuson and Patrice Hollis were among those seen enjoying the afternoon sun.

Wilkinson and Marquardt’s significant others, Hank Baskett and Nicholas Carpenter, also attended the party.

“We’re all great friends,” Wilkinson said. Her fiancé agreed and said it’s not awkward at all.

“It’s been very nice getting to know Hef. He’s just down to earth, family-oriented kind of guy,” the Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver said.

Baskett said he and Hefner have been friends since the minute they realized they shared not just a woman, but a favorite comic, too.

“It was one of those male bonding moments,” Baskett said. “We ‘re both big Flash Gordon fans … It was like a match made in heaven.”

Wilkinson said she views the collection of former and current boyfriends and girlfriends as “friends and family.”

In fact, Wilkinson and Baskett will tie the knot at the Playboy Mansion on June 27 and Hefner had agreed to walk Wilkinson down the aisle.

She said Saturday’s festivities were “kind of like a birthday party-slash-anniversary” for her and Hefner.

The two met at Hefner’s 78th birthday party five years ago, and Wilkinson said she knew exactly how to mark the occasion: with a card.

“That’s all he likes,” she said. “He likes cards with nice things written in them, and he likes pictures in frames, and he likes candy.”

She said her card carried a simple but heartfelt message.

“I wrote for both of us,” Wilkinson said as she and Baskett linked arms. “I said, ‘Thanks for being such a good friend to Hank and I, we love you so much and, PS, I miss you’.”

This afternoon’s pool party was just the beginning of Hefner’s birthday extravaganza.

After catching some midday sun, he and his guests retreated indoors to prepare for the night ahead. Before they left, however, the birthday boy shared his plans.

“Once we finish the pool party we’ll be having dinner at N9NE, the restaurant,” he said. After that, the iconic playboy said they will move the party upstairs, where the group will “spend some time at the Playboy Club and Moon.”

And how does Hugh Hefner end his night of birthday celebrations in Las Vegas?

Hefner said he plans to do it with “a little private gathering in my suite.”

Playboy Playmates & Jane’s Addiction Rock the Rabbit @ SXSW 2009

playboy-janes-addiction-sxsw-1-2

It’s no secret that Playboy and C3 know how to throw one helluva a SXSW shindig, but Thursday night’s Rock The Rabbit After Hours Party was the end-all-be-all.  I mean, hanging with eight Playmates in an abandoned grocery store with an endless supply of BBQ and swill may be a little less than commonplace, but seeing the original Jane’s Addiction lineup shred balls from the dairy isle was definitely a first.  Sure, I was a bit apprehensive that a grown-up Jane’s (minus the addiction) might be better suited as the opener on a Styx/Def Leppard parking lot double bill, but the boys brought it and brought it bigger than ever, busting out nine aggressively explosive pre-1990’s classics.  Thank you Jane’s for leaving the steel drum and the slow karaoke anthems back in 1997 where they belong.

Jennifer Pershing hits Sin City–again

Jennifer Pershing

Well, after another appearance in Vegas earlier this week—that makes two in close to a week—I think it’s safe to say it’s now starting to feel like a second home. I’ve been to Vegas so many times since I moved out to L.A., so whenever I get the chance to go out there I get super excited. I think I could see myself living in Las Vegas at some point, but I don’t know if it’s something I could do long term. More so, I could see myself owning some property there or something like that. Being from the East Coast, I kind of need to be near a beach. Honestly, I think Vegas would be somewhat blah unless you’re in the city. And for me, the city’s a little too crazy to live there. I kind of need a little bit of the ocean when I want it. Back East is fun, but I don’t like being cold. I don’t like the snow either. I’m definitely a California girl. That being said, I definitely see myself living out here in L.A. for quite some time. You know, you kind of get the itch to do something else sometimes, so maybe I’ll venture out and move somewhere else at some point. For right now, I kind of like being near my shopping malls and the beach.

I was in Vegas for such a short time this past trip, but I really enjoyed myself. I was with three other Playmates, so it was a lot different than last week when I was alone. I really took advantage of the time I was with them and really got to know the other girls. Kara Monaco (2006 Playmate of the Year), who I had never met, was a lot of fun to hang out with. On Monday, we were at the Playboy Club for what was called The Greatest Party on Earth. Was it The Greatest Party on Earth? I wouldn’t necessarily go there, but it was really fun. For the first half of the night we stayed at the Playboy Club and then we went to Moon for the second half. We were up dancing the whole night, and it was super cool.

The party was actually the opening night party for the Nightclub and Bar Convention, so as you can imagine, there was a lot of partying going on that first night. There were definitely some drunk people and definitely some crazy dancing going on on the dance floor—seriously crazy dancing. There were a couple people who actually bought issues with them—my issue and Jessica Burciaga’s (Miss February 2009) issue—for us to sign, and some even brought their own Sharpies. And for all the Playmates who were there that night, the club had our pictures circling on the TVs, so it was cool to see our pictorials flash by throughout the night.Jennifer%20Pershing%20blog%203%20pic.jpg

(Miss February 2009 Jessica Burciaga and me at the Playboy Club)

Despite what you may think, we actually don’t get a lot of guys coming up to us and offering to buy us drinks. We’re usually sitting at our V.I.P. table and we have bouncers right there, so guys will come over and talk to us, but we’re not allowed to drink while we’re working. So that kind of takes buying any of us a drink out of the equation. But if I did have a drink of choice—it depends on where I am and what I have to fit into the next day—if I can get away with it, I would drink Coors Light (draft preferred) all night long. But you can get easily get bloated from that, so if you have to be skinny the next day, definitely do Absolut and Diet Coke.

I would have to say out of all the clubs in Vegas, the Playboy Club is one of the classier ones. I think it’s cool the way they have the table games going on up there. You can play the slots, you can play blackjack, and overall just the club’s atmosphere is great. And, of course, you can’t beat the Bunnies as servers. That adds its own little flair into the mix. And the view. Oh, the view is absolutely amazing up there. I’ve stayed at the Stratosphere many times, and the revolving restaurant offers a great view, but there’s nothing like being out and dancing with the windows everywhere and a view of the lights. It’s so pretty. You always see people when you’re there, too, taking their pictures up next to the window so they can get the gorgeous backdrop.

I really didn’t want this past weekend to end. Everyone who I’ve met so far during my work with Playboy has been so cool. Yesterday afternoon, when all the girls were in the airport together, we were exchanging phone numbers so we can all go see a Steel Panthers show together or something. We’re all so busy, though, doing all of this stuff right now. Whenever I get the chance, there are definitely some Playmates I like to hang out with a lot, such as Jessica Burciaga, and sometimes I’ll get together with the girls to see a Steel Panthers show. Kelly Carrington (Miss October 2008) has come out with me before. I like to hang out with Alison Waite (Miss May 2006) as well. She’s super cool. Love that girl.

I try to go to the Mansion as much as possible, but I’ve been promoting so much these past weeks, and when I’m not doing that, I have a full-time job. I usually get two Sundays off a month, so I try to go up for at least those two Sundays. Living here, I don’t have the luxury of coming and staying at the Mansion and just kind of being there for a few days. The Mansion is amazing, though, and I would love to live in the Playmate House. I never went to a college that was away, so for me I think it would kind of fill up that void in my life. I feel like with the camaraderie of the girls, the Playmates, everyone at the Mansion, it’s become kind of like a second family. To me that would be a really cool experience to have, and of course, you can’t beat the 24-hour butler service, the movies, celebrities going up there. It’s just such a cool lifestyle they live.

This past Sunday was The Girls Next Door finale. I’ve watched the show since day one, and I cried during the finale. What can I say? It’s the end of an era. These three girls will forever be known as the Girls Next Door. They just created such a brand for themselves. Meeting them all during my testing and shooting, I found they really are true to their characters on TV—that’s just who they are. Every show that I’ve seen since I’ve been in this position is a little more personal for me because I know everyone on the show, so if they’re upset it’s sad for me. It’s definitely different up there at the Mansion now. I was there to see all of that transform, and it’s weird to see it all played out on TV. But I love the show; it’s amazing.

I definitely got to know Holly more than Bridget and Kendra, as she worked with me closely on my Playmate shoot. Holly’s actually a big Steel Panthers fan, so she was really excited to help shoot my pictorial, because that meant she got to go see the band with me. We went shopping together for my shoot to get all of my clothes for all the different sets, so we spent a really good few days together. She even introduced me to sushi; I had never had sushi before. It was some place on Sunset Plaza Drive. I can’t remember the name.

We actually did have some paparazzi following us one day at Frederick’s of Hollywood. She’s so super nice to everybody; everybody loves Holly. It’s just a pleasure to be around her. Everyone stops her and is like, “Holly, can I get a picture?” And you start to feel bad for her after a while. People just don’t leave her alone. She’ll take a picture with whoever; she’ll sign any autograph. She’s just such a sweet, sweet person. I’m happy to know her.

I’ve only been up to the Mansion twice since the girls moved out, and yeah, the dynamic around there is different. But when you go up there for dinner, you kind of just hang out with the people you’re close to. Cristal Camden and I are good friends, as well as Stacy Burke. We kind of tend to just hang out in the back and talk about normal stuff. I try to stay away from the gossip. It doesn’t benefit anyone. We’re all there to do a job, and if we just stay focused on that it’s much better for the company.

I have met the twins, Karissa and Kristina Shannon. We actually shot a Girls Next Door episode together—the scuba episode. I think it aired two weeks ago. So I got to hang out with them for a day. They’re super sweet; I like them a lot. They’re really fun. I remember they were hanging off the boat the day we shot the episode. They’re always running around and always up for an adventure.

In response to reader Timothy and whether the March issue was my first time in Playboy, the 55th Anniversary Search feature was the first time I appeared, so that was the December 2008 issue. My March Centerfold, though, is the first pictorial I’ve done.

Thanks again guys for checking in. See you all next week!

Jennifer
